Community Guidelines and Child Safety Standards
Vellure is for conversation between adults. These rules keep it a place people are glad to talk in. They are part of our Terms of Use.
Adults only
Everyone on Vellure must be 18 or older. If you are under 18, you may not use it. If we learn someone is under 18, we may suspend or delete their account.
Child Safety Standards
Vellure has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). The following are strictly prohibited, anywhere on Vellure, in any form (text, photos, links, or profile content), and whether presented as real, fictional or role-play:
- sexual content that involves, depicts or describes a person under 18, or that sexualizes a child;
- sharing, asking for, trading, or linking to child sexual abuse material;
- grooming: building a relationship with a child or someone who seems to be one in order to sexually exploit them, or trying to arrange to meet one for that purpose;
- sextortion: threatening or pressuring anyone, and especially a minor, to send sexual images or to pay or act to keep them private;
- asking a person who seems to be under 18 for photos, contact details, or personal information;
- any other conduct that sexually abuses, exploits or endangers a child.
How to report something
- In the chat: every chat has Report and Block buttons. Choose a reason (there is a specific one for "Appears to be under 18"), add details if you like, and send. You can report someone who has messaged you. Blocking is private: the other person is not told.
- By email: write to [email protected]. For anything involving a child, put "Child safety" in the subject. This is our designated contact for child-safety reports and for questions from app stores and authorities.
- If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency services first.
What we do when child sexual abuse material or exploitation is found
When we know about CSAM or child sexual exploitation on Vellure, we:
- remove the content and end access to it;
- ban the account, or block the guest, involved;
- preserve the evidence, including the saved messages that come with a report, rather than deleting it, so it can be handed to the authorities;
- report it to the authorities: to the NCMEC CyberTipline for matters in the United States, and to Cybertip.ca for matters in Canada, and we cooperate with law enforcement.
Deleting an account does not erase a report made about it: reports are kept for safety.
If you come across child sexual abuse material or exploitation, you can also report it directly: NCMEC CyberTipline (United States) or Cybertip.ca (Canada). Please do not copy or forward the material itself.
Behaviour rules
Do not:
- Harass or abuse anyone, including repeated unwanted messages after someone has stopped replying, hate speech, or bullying.
- Threaten anyone, or encourage violence or self-harm.
- Send sexual content or solicit it. Vellure is not for dating or adult content, including sexual photos, sexual requests, or offers of sexual services.
- Scam or spam: no fraud, phishing, fake offers, asking for money, or advertising and mass messaging.
- Impersonate other people, or pretend to be someone you are not in order to mislead them.
- Share other people's private information, such as their real name, address, phone number, photos or conversations, without their consent.
- Involve anyone under 18 in any way, or use Vellure if you are under 18.
- Break the law, or try to get around blocks, bans or rate limits.
What happens if the rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is, we may:
- remove messages or content;
- suspend or permanently ban an account, or block a guest;
- report the matter to the authorities, and share information with them where the law allows or requires it, or where it is needed to protect someone's safety.
We may act without warning where someone's safety is involved. If you think we got it wrong, write to [email protected].
Protecting yourself
- You choose who to talk to. You can stop replying, block, or report at any time.
- Photos are optional. You can switch sending and receiving them off in Settings.
- Do not share personal details with someone you do not know, and never send money.
Emergencies
Vellure is not for emergencies. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency services.
