Terms of Use

Last updated: September 22, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Vellure Chat ("Vellure", "we", "us") for using vellure.chat and any Vellure mobile app (together, "the service"). By using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Vellure Chat is unrelated to other businesses that use the name Vellure.

What Vellure is

Vellure is a free, anonymous, one-to-one text chat. You pick someone who is online and talk. There is no random matching and no webcam, and you do not need a profile. It is a place for conversation. It is not for dating, and not for adult content.

Who can use it

Guests and accounts

You can chat as a guest with no account. A guest identity is temporary: it lives in a session cookie that lapses about 30 minutes after your last visit, and once it ends you can no longer reach that guest's chats.

You can also make an account (a username and password, with an optional email). Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has got into it. You can delete your account at any time in Settings; see how account deletion works.

Acceptable use

Be decent to the person you are talking to. In short: no harassment or threats, no sexual content or solicitation, nothing involving anyone under 18, no scams or spam, no pretending to be someone else, and no sharing other people's private information. Do not try to break, overload or get around the service, and do not use it for anything illegal. The full rules, including our Child Safety Standards, are in the Community Guidelines, which are part of these terms.

Your content

You are responsible for what you send, whether it is a message, a photo or profile information. You keep ownership of your content. By sending it, you give us a limited licence to store it, to deliver it to the person you send it to, and to review it when it is reported. We do not use this licence for anything else, and we do not sell your content.

Only send what you have the right to send. Photos are optional, and you can switch sending and receiving them off in Settings.

Intellectual property

"Vellure", the Vellure logo, and the look and design of the service are ours. These terms do not give you any right to use our name, logo or branding. Everything about how the service itself is built - its design, code, and the text we write for it (not what you and other users say to each other, which is covered under Your Content above) - belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from the service itself, except to the extent the law gives you that right despite this restriction.

Feedback

If you send us feedback, bug reports or ideas (for example through the Feedback button available on any page), you give us the right to use them for any purpose, commercial or not, without owing you anything or crediting you, and without it being confidential. You're still welcome to also just tell us something is broken without any of that - it does not change how we treat a bug report either way.

Copyright complaints

If you believe something on Vellure infringes your copyright, contact us at [email protected] with (1) a description of the copyrighted work, (2) where the infringing material is (a profile URL, or enough detail to find a conversation we can look up), (3) your contact information, (4) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized, and (5) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them. We review and act on genuine notices, which may include removing content or suspending a repeat infringer's account.

Blocking, reporting and enforcement

You can block anyone, and report a person who has messaged you. We review reports. If someone or something breaks these terms or the Community Guidelines, we may remove messages or content, suspend or ban an account or guest, and report serious matters to the authorities. We may do this without notice where we think it is needed to keep people safe.

Termination

You can stop using Vellure and delete your account at any time (see how account deletion works). We can suspend or end your access to the service, including deleting a guest session or an account, if you break these terms or the Community Guidelines, if we reasonably believe you are under 18, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where practical we will try to tell you why; where we think it is needed to keep people safe, we may act without notice. Sections that by their nature should survive ending your access - including Your Content's licence for what you already sent, Intellectual Property, Limit of Our Responsibility, Indemnification, and Disputes and Governing Law - continue to apply after your access ends.

Privacy

How we handle your information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to the service

Vellure is free and still early. We may change it, add or remove features, or stop the service, at any time. We may also suspend or remove anyone who breaks the rules.

Not advice, and not for emergencies

Vellure is a place to talk with other people. Nothing said in a chat, and nothing from us, is legal or medical advice. Vellure is not for emergencies. If you or someone else is in danger, call your local emergency services.

The service is provided "as is"

We work to keep Vellure running and safe, but we provide it "as is" and "as available", without promises that it will always work, be error-free, or be secure. The people you talk to are other users, not us. We do not check who they are and cannot promise what they say or do is true or safe, so use your own judgement and do not share private information you would not want repeated.

Limit of our responsibility

To the extent the law allows, Vellure is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost profits, or for what other users say or do. Where the law allows us to limit our liability at all, our total liability to you for anything connected to the service is limited to the greater of what you have paid us (which is nothing, as the service is free) and CAD $100. Nothing in these terms limits rights or liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as liability for our own fraud or for causing death or personal injury by negligence.

Indemnification

If your use of Vellure, your content, or your breach of these terms causes a claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) against us from someone else, you agree to reimburse us for it, to the extent the law allows. This does not apply to a claim caused by our own wrongdoing.

Disputes and governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, and any dispute will be decided by the courts of Ontario, unless the law where you live gives you the right to go to court elsewhere. Please contact us first at [email protected] and we will try to sort it out informally.

General provisions

Entire agreement. These terms, together with the Community Guidelines and the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about the service, and replace any earlier agreement about it.

Severability. If a part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies, and the unenforceable part will be read to achieve its intent as closely as the law allows.

Waiver. If we do not act on a breach right away, that is not us giving up the right to act on it later.

Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours, for example as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and will still stand behind these terms afterward.

No third-party beneficiaries. These terms are between you and us; they do not give any other person a right to enforce them, except where the law says otherwise.

Force majeure. We are not responsible for a failure or delay caused by something reasonably outside our control, such as an outage at a hosting or infrastructure provider we rely on, a natural disaster, or a change in the law.

Export and sanctions. You confirm you are not located in, or a resident of, a country or region subject to Canadian or other applicable trade sanctions, and are not on any government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Notices. We may give you notice about the service by posting on the site or, if you have given us one, emailing the address on your account. You can give us notice at [email protected].

Headings. Section headings in these terms are for convenience only and do not affect how the terms are read.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. If you keep using Vellure after a change, you accept the updated terms.
